From blades to the soul
From blades to the soul

Rich in experience and travels, Mickael, the artist makes a return to his roots where he draws from local resources. He dives into the Mediterranean in search of his childhood memories and emotions that had been frozen in time, to discover unaltered works he has realised in faience, ceramics.

In honour of his charming town Hyères, he showcases the infamous azure color, shapes and scents of the French Riviera. A region that has aroused passion and excitement amongst many artists such as Seurat, Cézanne, Picasso, Staël, Klein and César. The sea, wind, sand, smell of the pines and the landscapes are enhanced by the unique clarity to make each sunset the best possible work of the great master.

Man and the Sea
Free man, you will always cherish the sea!

The sea is your mirror; you contemplate your soul

In the infinite unrolling of its billows;

Your mind is an abyss that is no less bitter.

You like to plunge into the bosom of your image;

You embrace it with eyes and arms, and your heart

Is distracted at times from its own clamoring

By the sound of this plaint, wild and untamable.

Both of you are gloomy and reticent:

Man, no one has sounded the depths of your being;

O Sea, no person knows your most hidden riches,

So zealously do you keep your secrets!

Yet for countless ages you have fought each other

Without pity, without remorse,

So fiercely do you love carnage and death,

O eternal fighters, implacable brothers!

Charles Baudelaire - The Flowers of Evil

Serendipity meeting
Serendipity meeting

The result is a fresh, introspective and poetic collection. A rise of emotions that plunged the artist into the quintessence of his beginning, to recapture his original passion for art in its purest form, as a first love. Azur collection began from an encounter with the Moiselet family. Ceramists for 30 years, dedicated to transmitting their love of the clay, passion of colors and patience of work.
This lead to a year of experience, research and serendipity. Day by day, organically, the work unveiled itself to the artist, and the artist to his work.
